And all through the house, cookies were made from scratch, time was spent as a family after the Christmas Eve Service and W was getting ready for bed because Santa was on his way...
Oh the memories of making cookies for Santa (and the local fire department)! William was beyond excited to help me make cookies from scratch! He loved helping measure all the ingredients, stir/beat everything together and roll out the dough. His little eyes just sparkled with excitement with each step. He would gasp and giggle. He'd ask to stir the bowl. He loved getting his little hands in the dough! He and I had a blast baking our cookies for Santa (while Philip took the pictures). I loved starting this tradition with my child! I loved spending time with him in the kitchen getting our hands "dirty" while baking. We sang Christmas songs and laughed and laughed. It was a wonderful afternoon full of excitement!
We fought the awful weather and made the drive into town for the Christmas Eve service at church and boy, what a blessing! It was such a peaceful service full of meaning. I am so thankful we have the opportunity to be in church worshiping our Lord with such freedom. We are blessed with our church family.
After church that evening, we spent time together as a family just hanging out and enjoying William's excitement about Christmas. He loved setting the cookies out for Santa. He loved leaving the milk for Santa. At one point he looked at his daddy and told him that the cookies and milk were for Santa! How cute!! After reading our "Twas the night before Christmas, it was time for William to go to bed...for Santa to come!
~And to all a good night~
